Each year Congress must appropriate money for the many programs run by the various federal agencies. This amount is not necessarily the same amount in the budget. At appropriations time Congress can change its mind and allocate more, less or no funding to any given program. It is important to make sure that the voices supporting sustainable agriculture are heard during this process to ensure adequate funding.
